Richard Downer
Richard Downer - Custom home designer
Richard began building over 30 years ago by carrying lumber, working his way through framing and supervision, and eventually becoming a general contractor. His passion for architectural creativity led to several opportunities to design, than build, many unique homes. He has had the opportunity to design in a range of styles, from English Tudor, English country, French country, French chateau, German manor, Cape cod, Swiss chateau to his most recent ventures with Southwest Design.
Richard's Designs
Richard is known for his integration of a home with the natural environment. Use and orientation of views, dramatic use of glass, development of functional relationships between interior and exterior space, use of natural light, flow and relationship of interior space, roof and elevation lines that flow with the natural terrain have all been fundamental in Richard's designs.

Parade of Homes
Richard and his family moved to Dammeron Valley in 1994 and quickly saw the opportunity to incorporate his design talents with the unique environment of Pinion Hills. Along with Dammeron Corporation, they have built five new homes, four of which have been Parade Homes. His unique style is a hybrid of southwest design with a variety of building materials, including wood, concrete, and concrete foam blocks.
